September 23rd, 1997. Geraldo Rivera’s namesake talk show looks at the extreme violence going on in Los Angeles and whether recent measures can stop it.
“I try to stay inside as much as possible…I only go out if I have to go the market…”
An introduction helps us see just what is happening in Ease Los Angeles. The courts have issued an injunction designed to keep the 18th Street Gang out of certain areas, but are they beginning to re-infiltrate? What can be done? The Los Angeles Deputry District Attorney, Deanne Castorena, is in charge of the stragety against gang environments and she speaks to whether this injunction will work. Coolio is on the panel and he thinks this injunction could end up affecting innocents more than stopping gang violence.
Injunctions against the 18th Street Gang in Los Angeles did spread to several areas over time.
This day, Geraldo’s Television History.
