1992. Geraldo Rivera’s Now It Can Be Told progam explores the folklore around Christopher Columbus, close to when America celebrates the 500th anniversary of America’s discovery.
We go to the Columbus Pre-School & Gym, to hear what some of America’s youth are taught. Narrating us through the facts and fakes is Jack Weatherford, author of ‘Native Roots’. It is amazing that this 15th century navigator managed to convince the King & Queen of Spain the world was 25% smaller than most scholars believed, and he’d back from the West Indies in a jiffy.
Columbus day is still celebrated on the 2nd Monday of each October.
