1982. Geraldo Rivera for Eyewitness News brings us to Lebanon, as Iranian volunteers stream into that country during fighting there.
“People of all religions have suffered, but the Christians of the country now feel like an endangered species…”
We hear of the factions involved as Christians, Muslims, the PLO, Israeli army, and even Syrian troops stake their claim in the shattered country. An interview with major Saad Haddad is shown and his Christian militia is asked by Israeli to honor another shaky ceasefire. Lebanese citizens who asked Israeli to intervene are heard from. On the other side we see some of the training Iranian volunteers go through as they traverse Syria to get to Lebanon. Major Haddad is not intimidated by the Iranian soldiers.
In 2026 the Beaufort castle has been taken by Israeli forces as they rush to eliminate Hezbollah.
