1993. Victim or Violator? Panel decides if the Michael Jackson allegations are true

September 13th, 1993. Geraldo Rivera brings together all sides of the recent lawsuit alleging inappropriate conduct by the pop star.

“I can’t see how anyone who totally surrounds themselves with children constantly…would openly abuse a child, this child’s mother was present…”

We hear from a wide range beginning with Mike Walker of the National Enquirer and Flo Anthony of the New York Post. The National Enquirer finds the boy who was interviewed credible, but Flo disagrees. Linda Stasi of the New York Daily News has spoken to the extended family of the boy; Michael has been spoiling the boy and family, and behaviour is becoming odd.

Later in the segment Alfonso Ribeiro is introduced and having worked with MJ belives him to be innocent. Joe Jackson, the father of Michael, phones in to thank the fans and he is standing by his son during these very public allegations. Majestic Magnificient closes out the segment imploring us to speak more in a way children can understand.

The Chandler family including then 13year old Jordan Chandler filed suit against Michael Jackson in 1993. A financial settlement was reached in 1994 and the investigation closed.

This day, Geraldo’s television history.
