1994. Women who want to live in a man’s world, female to male transsexuals

April 18th, 1994. Geraldo Rivera’s namesake talk show introduces us to a range of individuals who started life as girls, to later become men.

“We’re not just talking about costumes here, we’re talking about physical metamorphosis, we’re talking about an operation that changes…”

We begin with a set of twins who both decided to transition to the opposite sex as adults, and claim to have known they were born to be men. Devon, who used to be Debbie, has a partner who has stood by him for decades, throughout the physical transition. We learn that the physical surgeries cost about $100,000 for female to male and include three procedures — if there are no complications.

Discussed are many tidbits about what it means to be man trapped in a woman’s body in the 1990s, as these transsexuals describe the needs of their souls and various life choices.

This day, Geraldo’s television history.
