1990. Caught in the crossfire, tragic stories of innocent drug war victims

August 15th, 1990. Geraldo Rivera on his namesake talk show brings us this segment showing some of the horrific things that happen when drug dealers are fighting in the streets.

“..when kids used to settle things with their fists? They’d fight and have a scrap, and it’d be over. Now those fists are holding uzi sub machine guns…”

We hear horrific stories of minors who were in the wrong place at the wrong time and paid with their lives, a young boy who refused to smoke crack, a mother who sold her daughter to pay her drug dealer, and more from the guests on stage and in the audience.

A youth center is also visited, a building that was converted after tragedy occurred there. A mother speaks to inner city children trying to prevent more violence.

In 2025, illegal drugs and their proliferation continue to cause cascading problems in American society.

This day, Geraldo’s television history.
