March 28th, 1988. Geraldo Rivera on his namesake talk show brings on several familes that don’t have a place to live, as well as actor Martin Sheen for his work with homeless causes.
“…just a block away, there are families living with nothing. Nothing except each other.”
After the opening minute we meet several homeless married couples, seeing what their lives are like. A family with six children is introduced in the audience before meeting the panel, where Mr. Sheen describes why he got involved with the cause. Towards the end of the segment a man describes whether efforts like those by Mr. Sheen give him any hope.
Homeless continues to be an issue in America, with more than 700,000 suffering in 2024.
