1985. Dogs as crime fighters, and dog handler John Preston

September 3rd, 1985. Geraldo Rivera investigates the phenomenon of dog handler John Preston and his ‘wonder-dog’ who could easily find a scent left months or years before.

“To my knowledge…no, I’ve never been wrong.”

This segment attempts to uncover whether John Preston’s dogs are legitimate, or at $1,000 a day the act is a fake.

We learn of a murder case where Preston’s dog supposedly matched the scent of the suspect with clothing on the victim found floating in a canal 2 years before. Also interviewed is a man sent to prison completely on John Preston’s testimony.

This day, Geraldo’s television history.
