Ms. Friedman worked for Janis Joplin from 1968 until her death in 1970, and recalls visiting her hometown of Port Arthur Texas. Ms. Joplin’s life is reviewed from humble beginnings as an odd duck, to living life on the west coast scene and experimenting with illicit drugs. Were her friends just buddies as opposed to true friends?
Myra Friedman wrote a book about Janis Joplin called ‘Buried Alive’. Janis Joplin died of a heroin overdose October 4th, 1970.
