1974. Geraldo Rivera on his Good Night America show hosts actress, turned political activist, turned actress again Shirley MacLaine. This segment starts with clips from some of her more popular movies, before moving to an extended interview. The interview is very soon after a multi-year break where Ms. MacLaine spent around $250,000 of her own money on political causes, campaigning for Democrat George McGovern in 1972.
Discussed is the wide range of activities in Shirley’s wide-ranging professional life from films such as Can Can, to speaking at the Democratic National Convention, and even a trip to China.
“After a three year break, what made you come back to show business?”
“I was born, and raised in a very theatrically-inclined family…….finally I had to come back to the thing I was born to do.”
Six time academy award nominee Shirley MacLaine has starred in dozens of movies, recently in ‘Noelle’, 2019. She has also authored a great many books including topics on spirituality, reincarnation, and more.
