Your Life, Joan Rivers

“Joan Rivers, ladies and gentlemen.  A special lady.  You all remember Ralph Edwards right, and This Is Your Life?  Well, I’m Ralph Edwards junior today. Okay, you were born Joan Melinsky…”  “Don’t say the year.”  “haha…to parents Beatrice and Myer Melinsky of Brooklyn, New York. Your father was a doctor.  Your mom’s motto: A good epidemic means meat on the table.  Is that true, really?”  “I made that up.”  “Okay..you were raised in Larchmont, New York graduated from Barnart College and began performing as a comedian with other soon-to-be-discovered stars like Woody Allen and Richard Pryor.  As the first extremely successful female comic, a lot of your schtick revolved around your looks, your sex life, and your family.”  “Still does.”  “Like, what could you say about your sex life when you started?  People were pretty…”  “I learned to say what I say now, rapists would tap me on the shoulder, say, see any girls?  I did the same thing…it still works!  I was petty with a guy at my senior prom his hand fell asleep..same as now…nothing changed!”
